Since ancient times, mankind has attempted to make cosmetics to improve the skin and to hide the visible effects of ageing. The bitter truth is that, for the most part, cosmetic creams remained simple, old-fashioned moisturisers offering dreams of youthful skin, wrapped in progressively more modern and expensive packaging.

The introduction of Vitamin A into the formulation of skin care products heralded a new era in the treatment of sun-damaged skin. Although some cosmetic houses were using very low doses of Vitamin A in their skin care products in the 1980s, Dr Des Fernandes, a prominent Cape Town plastic surgeon, was the first person in the world to introduce Vitamin A in high effective doses. This range established Environ® as a leader in skin care.

The Interactive range of products can 'interact', or be used in conjunction with any of the other Environ product ranges. The function of the Interactive range is to prepare the skin for the application of the important active products, or to boost their effects.

The Original range consists of light, on-greasy products containing vitamin A, a free radical scavenging system of beta-carotene, vitamins C and E and provitamin B5.

The B-Active range is specifically intended for problem skin. Each product contains Australian tea tree oil for its antiseptic properties to help control bacteria and inflammation and most contain salicylic acid for its mild exfoliant properties.

The Ionzyme range helps to nourish the skin with essential vitamins to delay the visible signs of ageing. It can be used together with the Proactive range to improve results, or can be used by itself. It has often been referred to as 'Liquid Gold in a bottle', because it is the most luxurious Environ treatment available.

The Alpha-Hydroxy range is based on gentle, non-toxic Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) that assist in softening and smoothing the skin. The range also assists the natural exfoliating function, leading to a smoother skin with greater resiience and finer texture, whilst replenishing the skin's natural acidity.

The Intensive range is designed to provide the skin with specialised intense treatments. The products are intended for use by those who wish to obtain maximum benefit from vitamins and nutrients for specific problem areas.
